Kitchen Display System (KDS)

The KDS shows kitchen orders on a screen and/or prints Kitchen Order Tickets (KOTs) automatically the moment an order is sent. It receives orders live from the POS and TableTime, supports stations/routing, priorities and Running Orders.

What is KDS & how it connects

The KDS is a dedicated app that receives orders in real time (via SignalR) and either displays them or auto-prints KOTs. It joins your company/branch group automatically and rejoins on reconnect, so new tickets appear instantly.

Install & connect KDS

  1. Install the KDS / Ticket Printing app on the kitchen PC.
  2. Log in with Sum Cloud POS credentials (same as TableTime).
  3. It joins your branch’s order group automatically.
  4. Select the kitchen printer in Settings — new orders then auto-print.
The app can auto-start on Windows boot and minimise to the system tray so the kitchen screen is always ready.

Order display & status

Orders appear as tickets with items, quantities, table/waiter and notes. Status flows through New → Preparing → Complete (and Cancel). Cancelled tickets blink; a green “New Order” badge marks first-time orders.

Running Orders & priority

A Running Order is a KOT for a table that already has a prior KOT — the guests are seated and eating. These get a red pulsing badge, a distinct alert sound and auto-pin to the top so the kitchen prioritises them.

Auto-print KOT & print appearance

New orders print automatically (silent printing, no dialog). The KOT shows KOT/order number, date/time, table/floor/waiter, items with quantities and notes. KOT Print Appearance settings control banners — a “NEW ORDER” banner always prints; a “RUNNING ORDER” banner can be toggled.

Kitchen stations & routing

Route items to the right station/printer by category or floor, so the grill, bar and dessert stations each get only their items. Configure routing in printer settings.

KDS settings & manual print

Settings cover printer selection, auto-start, sounds and print appearance. Any order can also be manually printed from the orders list. Orders older than 24 hours are auto-cleaned locally.
